President Tommy E. Remengesau Jr.handed over the keys to twelve new police cars to Vice President and Miniser of Justice Antonio Bells in a brief ceremony on 14th September 2016 at the President's satellite office in Meyuns.
The Police cars were part of total of 20 Sedan and Suv's that were donated by Taiwan government. According to acting Police Director Omtel Ringang, the last time BPS received fleet of cars was in 2010. "We are grateful for these vehicles as once they are cleared for use, they will go into force immediately," Ringang Said. He added that only 8 vehicles remains in use from the 2010 donations.
Other agencies including Revenue and Tax, Customs, Immigration and Labor, Bureau of National Treasury received their vehicles.
Remengesau disclosed that the vehicles were procured with earmarked ROC stimulus grant.
Vice President Bells in his remark said that these vehicles are longtime coming for the law enforcement officers. "They are much needed and will certainly improve police work," Bells.
