The Palau Community Association of Guam's (PCAG) proposed Cultural Center broke ground in Dededo, Guam signifying the commencement of a project long desired by the Palauan community on Guam.
The project is anticipated to develop a 30 feet by 70 feet open pavilion, designed as the main structure of the building and a 33 feet by 40 feet conference room, including a walk through kitchen, restroom facility for both male and female, a storage room and a food preparation bar as well as an on-site septic tank and leach field. Congratulating PCAG for their efforts towards realizing a vision that late Davis Tevid and the entire Guam Palauan Community have desired for years, President Tommy E. Remengesau, Jr. encouraged the Association to match the necessary funds to construct the Center giving PCAG and all of its respective members a sense of ownership.
The Cultural Center, once constructed, will enhance PCAG's capacity to develop more programs aimed at strengthening Palau's cultural heritage while also uniting and strengthening the bonds and relationship shared among the thousands of Palauan living and working in Guam.
Since receiving funding assistance of $150,000 from the National Government And the 9th Olbiil Era Kelulau for the construction of the Center, PCAG have completed the design and blueprint of the facility and have begun soliciting project quotations from several bidders.
The ceremony was attended by President Remengesau, Minister Charles Obichang, Senator John Skebong, Senator Aric Nakamura, Senator Phillip Reklai, Delegate Dilmai Saiske, Delegate Vicky Kanai, Governor Browny Salvador and Director Brian Melairei among other guests as well as members of the Palauan community on Guam.
