Anastacio, guest speaker of 2017 graduation
Palau in 2017 is making a major financial contribution in the amount of $50,000 to Xavier High School, the premier region located in Chuuk, FSM. The school opened in 1952 and graduated its first four graduates in 1956, all Palauans-Anthony Polloi, Raymond Ulechong, Lazarus Salii, and Andres Ucherbelau, the only one who has survived until today.
The $50,000 Palau government check will be handed over to the school officials by speaker Sabino Anastacio, a member of the class of 1973, on friday, June 9, 2017 at the 2017 graduation exercises on Mabuchi Hill in Tunnuk Village, Mwen (Meon) Island, and the capital of Chuuk State. The money was appropriated by the Palau Congress in the current 2017 fiscal year budget. Though Palau government makes annual contributions to private and religious schools in Palau every year, this will be the first contribution to Xavier. Throughout the years, it was the Xavier alumni and supporters who do fund raising for the school. Last year, they raised $21,000 for the school.
