The national Independence Day on October 1 and Koror day on October 21 are celebrated in Guam one week later which has become a custom and is being done in grand and lavish fashion in recent years. 

This is because there are more Palauans and voters, over 3,000 in Guam than any other states in Palau except Koror. This year with Koror, Ngaraard, and Ngchesar elections like last year with national election, the national celebration is said to be full of activities with Palauan national and state officials and entertainers from Palau to attend. 

It is also a campaign time for Guam election next year and many Guam political aspirants will be squeezing hands in the event too. It will be held at Ypao Beach in Tumon on Saturday, October 7th, according to sources in the national and Koror governments.

The 14 Palau states clubs in Guam under the Palau Community Association (PCA) will have 14 booths with their flags flying over them and will have free foods, drinks, and entertainment. Best Palauan foods from each state are being ordered by their clubs and are already being shipped on weekly basis to Guam.

Candidates and their supporters from the three states with elections this year are expected to contribute to their clubs and to show up at this event which is projected to receive over three thousands visitors, according to PCA sources in Guam. Koror is expected to have its celebration in Guam later in October but in a lesser scale than the national one.
